Marriage, religion and pregnancy

No, I am not getting married, not getting religious and not pregnant hahaha. But read on, it’s interesting wan =P

Marriage, religion and pregnancy: An 11-year-old’s point of view
Rachel is the eldest of 3 sisters. Sensible, hardworking, smart; basically everything you would want in a daughter. Very different from her lazy gatal younger sister.

Rachel: Teacher, did you hug your boyfriend on the last day of school?
Me: No, I didn’t have a boyfriend then
Rachel: What about secondary school?
Me: Nope, I completed everything before having a boyfriend *smug*
Rachel: But what about college? You finished college right?
Me: Yeah, but he wasn’t from college *sheepish*
Rachel: Then, where did you find him?
Me: (whatever the answer is which isn’t what I wanna highlight here)

(silence)

I thought it was strange, this coming from Rachel. Never heard her mention any boy unlike Ryane who says she has 10 bfs. I sensed something, especially with the school holidays coming up.

Probe, probe, dig, dig...

Found out she likes a guy. So this sensible studious girl does like a guy. She told me about him, what she likes in him etc... cos I asked =D She probably saw me as a big sister/ confidante. After a short silence, she said "He’s Indian". I wasn’t surprised, cos she is pretty matured.

But what surprised me was that this young couple had talked about religion ad conversion. And to think that they weren't even officially ‘on’ yet. Rachel’s a Christian and Naresh said that he would convert to be with her as Rachel’s dad only allows her to marry a Christian. Rachel said there is no point converting just because he loves her; he never attended church nor read the Bible. That stunned me. I was in awe that they’d even spoken about it, I was even in more awe of what Naresh said and the awe-rest of them all was what Rachel said. Till this day, her words still tingle.

We spoke and shared that night. But by then end of the day, I had made her feel that she is lucky to have him sacrifice for her and she agreed to let him sacrifice since he was willing to =)

That night, I also found out that Ryane likes a Malay boy called Anugera. What kinda name is that?? He’s a year younger than her in Std 3 and he likes to flip girls’ skirts up =D But anyone will do for Ryane as long as they are cute.

Then Mr Tay gave them a comic strip where they have to fill in any conversation they wished. There was a picture of 2 girls talking, and Rachel wrote "Have you told your boyfriend you’re pregnant?" The other said "No, he’s quite emotional". Mr Tay came and read it and lectured them that they could do anything but do not get pregnant. Said he has seen Std 3 or Std 4 girls get pregnant before. I thought yeah, since girls reach puberty and are wilder these days, but then he realized that he actually meant F3 and F4 girls when he saw all of us tercengang, and we laughed like mad =D

What a class that night, Science for Std 2-5 students =)

Disclaimer: This post is solely for the purpose of sharing the conversation that absolutely amazed me.

My 1st week at Toyota

It was a tough ad rough week, physically and mentally. Physically due to work, mentally due to love.

In my 1st week, my boss (Asst Manager-AM) wanted me to represent my division and present my analysis at a committee meeting. It was harrowing enough to be preparing reports in my first week- I dunno what CSOD, TCSS, TQE, SvA, SA, TSC, CSI, SSI ad MI are. Was already working late on the 3rd day. It is more harrowing to be presenting them at the meeting. They aren’t clients who are stupid-er than me; these are reps from each division. Luckily my manager(M) bailed me out, saying that I was too new.

Lazy boss! To think of it, they planned the meeting one month in advance but waited until I started work to prepare the report? And my boss asked me to prepare the report so that she could compare it against hers, when she had actually done nothing at all.

But it’s really a good opportunity, a really good one. An opportunity for everyone to see you shine (or fall!). In just 1 day, I learnt more Excel than I did in 1.5 years in AGB. And I affirm that I work best under pressure, else I procrastinate knowing I have time.

Verdict of Toyota (so far):
Environment: Fast, busy

Colleagues: no good fried yet and no one I’m interested in to be friends with =D

Food: Cheap! Rice at the canteen costs RM2-RM3 but we go out to malls occasionally and end up spending >RM10. People don’t like eating cheap food is it?? But 2 days eating there and I’m already bored with the 5 dishes offered. But still need to cut down on food expenses though; getting a higher pay and saving on other expenses doesn’t mean I should be living a life like a senior exec, especially when there is cheap food! =D

Parking: Free. Save RM60 from last job.

Travelling: Takes as much time to travel from PJ. The jam to and from work is depressing but I save RM100 on toll and some more on petrol.

Worst part: Boss sits behind me and there is supposedly a report sent to the directors on the Internet usage. I am so stressed that my every movement is observed. Think I need to get Internet at home to stop feeling miserable. The Internet security is strict here too; mail with image attached is blocked and a request needs to be sent to IT to unblock it. Ma kwai fan.

Discoveries:
1. Japanese like to use A3 papers for a whole glance at their reports

2. Very environmental-friendly, which is good. Lights and air-cond are turned off at lunch time. The pantry's lights are motion-sensored. Was like bengong looking for the switch, and then suddenly it is bright! Same goes with some of the toilet lights too.

3. The whiteboards can print things that were written on them. Is it canggih or what? Or am I the jakun one?

4. Discrimination against small car owners?

5.
Yeah, we all know that
6. White coffee, 3 in 1 coffee, Milo and honey green tea in the pantry! The honey is so fragrant and look at the Milo =)

Frothy, just like those hot chocolate drinks you order from cafes. And taste good too!

I dunno how long I will last here. The first week is stressful enough and it will take years to rise with all the hierarchy. With both execs left/leaving, I shall be the ‘senior’ but the new person won’t be of any help as I am given the role of both the previous execs. So I dunno what he/she’ll be doing other than once-a-quarter-trainings. (Again, another blessing in disguise) Heck, I’ve even got 2 admin assistants to do petty stuff for me and making sure the data submitted to me for my analysis is clean. But of course, they are not for ordering to go to the pantry to get a mug of nice chocolatey Milo =D Thoughts of the huge bonus will be my motivation to stay and work hard!! Then maybe I’ll get a huge-r bonus =)

Edit: Suddenly missing my old office. Found out madam's away, they wanna organise a trip to Lily's wedding and Nizam messaged me this morning asking how's my new job. Miss the freedom, most of all =(

Official farewell

Still listening to: Lucky, over and over again

No one actually said anything, so everyone was standing in a circle when I entered the meeting room. Being the centre of attention made me blushed. I am a very blush-ful person despite being one not much of shame =D Big boss started saying something that I chose to leave because I don’t love them anymore and I might return someday. Madam didn’t want to present the souvenir, but had to in the end, saying that she hoped that the training I received would benefit me. Yada yada. I think I gave more training than received any.

I was surprised to see 3 boxes in the bag.

It’s like hantaran, a whole set but it was bought separately la. I like the bracelet most, probably because I’ve been wanting to get one? For once, I have to say that MS’s got good taste =P

Reading the card was quite touching. Guess I’m an emotional, sensitive and sentimental person but I’ve been there for only a year and a half. Getting calls, sms and emails from clients, especially from a feared director, made me feel appreciated =)

Madam teased James if he was delaying things cos he didn’t want me to leave, cos I was important. Then, she rephrased “...cos she is that important”. Kanasai woman. Her unwillingness to present me my gift, her belittling of my new position and her saying that it is difficult to jump among banks: I take that all as being “I’m good” *cocky* Well, if you can’t counter the offer, then don’t talk and fly kite. It was surprising that someone knowledgeable like her thinks that customer research is done once annually (you think this is Nielsen meh!) and that it’s tough jumping from bank to bank. I did my job well right up to the very last day, so the only ‘fault’ I did was to resign.

Waist, boobs and Timmy
I don’t understand why they had to measure my waist and boobs for the pre-employment checkup. I even thought they might wanna make me a uniform (at the clinic hahaha) or something =D I know there is waist-to-hip ratio to see how (un)healthy you are but hips-to-boob ratio? Think I flunk with flying colours =D

And Timmy’s weighing scale really wasn’t wrong: I did lose 4kg after/despite 3 rounds of Yuen. Woot woot! But seriously, I know it isn’t possible but don’t care, it feels good!

It’s good that Timmy will be here. Some shit cropped up but either way, it still needs to be scooped up. As long as it’s faced slowly, it should be fine. Not sure if keeping Emily is a good idea since she’s only a toy, a luxury, not a necessity, but I leave and respect the decision to ‘daddy’.

Quotable quote
“It’s not easy to be Timmy’s girlfriend” –Timmy-

Whoa! If you suck at directions, you could get dumped =D =D

This post means I have arrived at Toyota safely, with Internet! Settled down a bit, boss is not behind me at the moment and found time to steal bones just before I go home =P Real busy, boss sits behind me and the Internet's not so good. But I am so very blessed that I've got MSN, blogger and even signed up for Twitter! Very very blessed. Wishing myself all the best in my career!
