29th February

(Current favourite: Almost Here by Brian McFadden and Delta Goodrem. Forced Timmy to listen to it too in his car and on my iPod))

Ok, so there isn’t anything to say actually, it’s just that I wanted to have a post dated 29th Feb! 29th Feb is very unique to me and it’s like some sort of fascination with it. If I don’t post today, I’d have to wait for another 4 years and I don’t know if this or I myself will still be around then! =)

I remember those during schooling days when we determined if the year is a leap year by dividing the number by 4.

Since there is a personal fascination with it, think it would be a nice idea to do something significant on 29th Feb, like getting married or having a kid. But if you were to get married then, you seldom get to celebrate your anniversary yet have been married for a longer time! And you get 4 times less presents too =D And if your kid was born on that day, it seems like he doesn’t exist every other year! Furthermore, it’s not easy having a kid on that day itself, making him on that day is much easier =D

So, there will be no major events for me on 29th Feb. It’s just too rare and I think I’d rather be ordinary =) Unless I can think of something later down the line. I have 4 years to think anyway..

Since the topic of the day is about dates, I shall talk about my events for the month of March. A very eventful month, like I said earlier! I have many other things to say actually due to being ‘celibate’ for a week and telling myself not to do anything else other than work and chat and play Literati with Timmy. But it’s not like I blog everyday as well. Whatever. What I meant is no chatting with other people excessively or surfing multiple sites or downloading many songs =)

Ok, back to the activities..sort of to remind myself and list down everything cos I have no planner at the moment..

13-15 Mac : Bro’s St John camp. Need to be around to ferry him there and back.
16-18 Mac : Timmy’s birthday and celebration cum holiday in Pulau
19 Mac : Back from holiday and see what happens =)
20 Mac : Public holiday
21-23 Mac : F1
27 Mac : Bro’s dental appointment
28 Mac : Ajoy’s wedding in JB
29 Mac : Bro has school
30 Mac : KL Marathon

Ok, some are bro’s activities but I have to be around to ferry him around.

And there are many birthdays too..

11 Mac - Huey
16 Mac - Timmy
17 Mac - Ahyee
31 Mac - Ai Lyn

Did I miss out anyone? No, I hope =P

So what special thing am I gonna do today? It’s too early to say.. But after a whole week of not reaching home early, think I’m kinda burnt out. Probably just have my brake lights fixed and a car wash. What a great way to celebrate the 29th of Feb..

And just as I was typing this, something happened. Something related to 29th Feb. Arianna is not functioning due to 29th Feb!! It’s something like Y2K. What a .. !! The clients are calling up, we are discussing with our distributor and sending a stop press soon!

Happy 29th Feb everyone! I’m glad to be part of it. Haha, sounds like ushering in the new millennium pulak. Cheers!

Thoughts quickie

After happily going on the 10 rounds of shopping, I arrived home on Thursday to find my credit card bill of RM 1300. Mak datuk! I thought it would be around 1k but 1.3k gave me a shock! =P That’s 7x my last month’s bill =D

Glad that Timmy has a chance to get his problem fixed. There was initially no solution, it was good as gone and then there was one but it was a gamble. Then came a better solution, which isn’t exactly the perfect one but at least better than the previous one. Wish that all goes well.

*****
Boss was away for 3 days last week. Joy!! Had been busy though. Chatting with Timmy, playing Literati at the same time, surfing the Net for the best resort for Timmy’s birthday, talking with Shikin via Skype (cos she wanted to say things that couldn’t be said out loud a.k.a mengumpat =D ), asking Debi about the PS2 he wanted to sell me, making reservations for the resort, posting and reading blogs and downloading songs and transferring them to my iPod and Tim’s pendrive. So busy wan =)

Tuition and tkd are getting better. Got another class for tuition and another one for tkd. Initially only 1 tkd class was promised, but now I officially have 2 and I’d attend another 2 if I’ve nothing to do for the weekend. Good good.. A few hundred bucks there already and if I take on the other 2 classes, I can get almost a thousand. Not bad for part –time income.

Finally went to Wei Chern’s Chap Goh Mei open house. Have been invited for years but I dunno what to do there, so I always gave excuses. This year I decided that I would go no matter what cos he still invites me year after year despite me always not turning up.

As expected, it was boring. Luckily I had Timmy with me, else I would have felt really really lost there. But still, it was boring, don’t think I will come next year =P Actually I dunno why he invites me over; we hardly talk and I don’t belong to either the tkd group or the colleagues group that day. Previously, I didn’t belong to his form 6 friends group as well. But am touched that he still considers me a friend, a friend that has ‘withstood the test of time =)’ (cos there was no form 6 bunch there that day) and he doesn’t see me as just a friend’s ex. But since they don’t like each other, I don’t think he even considers jc a friend =D

Kids say the darndest things

Scene 1
Empty asked me “Teacher, do you wash your backside?” It’s not even worth opening my mouth to say something nasty to him like ‘Your brain is filled with nothing like poo, toilets and backsides’, so I ignored him. I sometimes think that he is fubar.

Scene 2
In Bukit Rimau tkd class, I had a bunch of about 20 kids aged 4-7 years. After letting them have a drink of water..

“Cikgu, cikgu!”

There was a small crowd crowding over someone on the floor. I thought someone had fallen down or something.

“Cikgu, cikgu dia berpeluh!”

Kids are a pampered lot these days. They come for tkd and complain if they sweat or feel hot. Duh, it’s an exercise! And they can’t even tie their own belts.

And kids.. all sort of things can happen to them. Like in the Tamil school, one of them ran straight into a pillar. Heard the loud bang and he straightaway fell to the floor. Immediately there was a bump the size of 20 sen on his forehead. No joke, though it was highly amusing how could someone run straight into a pillar =D Felt a bit bad cos I said they'd better come back from drinks before I finish counting from 10, that's why they all ran =D

I really have to get something done with my phone. I can hear people but they can’t hear me. I have lots of credit, almost RM 180 but I can’t call anyone cos no one can hear me. It’s really frustrating when there is an urgent call and nothing can be said. But repairing the phone takes a few days and not having a phone for few days is well..very uncomfortable. Which was why I was delaying it. A useless phone is better than none. Well, not entirely useless cos I can still sms (though might have difficulty sending and receiving messages some time later). Buy a new phone for temporary use? But then I might as well buy that phone and not repair it. but I’m just gonna buy a cheap temporary phone. Haiya.

Either my memory is so bad or there are communication problems. But I don’t think my memory is bad when it comes to love =)

*****
I am really getting better at not giving way. All the cars that wanted to squeeze in finally gave up and drove to the front to look for another victim =D

And this morning, a Kancil driven by a woman (of course) with no. WGK 9541 gave way to 7 cars!! 9541, if you somehow happen to read this, you are a moron. I’d kick myself if 1 car manages to squeeze in and you have 7?? Seriously something wrong with you.

*****
Vantage Point was a good movie and one that I understood the storyline clearly without any loopholes. Probably I need movies that have scenes repeated over and over again to fully understand it =D Sometimes I feel embarrassed to ask what’s happening or who was that but turns out that Timmy asks me the same question later, like was that the President or Thomas Barnes =D So I’m not that blur after all. Still wondering though why the President is called Potus..

*****
Synchromiss

There are like 240 minutes between the time Timmy reaches home and goes to sleep, so how could we both messaged each other at 11.06pm?? Synchronized missing still happens and never ceased to amaze me =)

*****
Taking part in the KL International Marathon in March under Timmy’s influence. He managed to get his company to participate but I have yet to get mine too. Lily said that our bosses like relaxing activities, not these. Whatever. At first I thought that my participation is to have an evening walk pakthor with Timmy but he seemed so semangat and even wanna train for it. I mean, there is no way I can win anything at that marathon even when I was in good shape. But Timmy said that everyone who finishes gets a cert and the top 500 get a medal. So now I am all psyched up!! Gonna start jogging soon! (I hope)

May we win!!

*****
March looks like an activity-ful month. Timmy’s birthday, bro’s St John camp, F1, elections, marathon, public holiday.. Luckily that the company strategy meeting has been postponed to April. So there will be 2 holidays in 2 months!

In lazy mode now, don’t feel like working anymore.. dread Mondays and the thought that boss is around..

14th February

I’m in love. It’s not that it’s only now that I realize that I’m in love but how much love I am in. There is just so much contentment in being with your partner, though not saying or doing anything. His mere presence is enough. The sight of him sitting in front of you makes you feel elated and fulfilled that nothing else matters in the world. There is a light-headed feeling (literally) that blurs everything around you and it’s like being in your own world where love is all around and only you and you partner exist. Yes, this happens, not only in love stories, I can attest to that. I am that in love =)

I was overwhelmed on Valentine’s night, but not by those expensive gifts or exorbitant dinners. Timmy’s verbal expression of love, coupled with the ambience of the restaurant, the experience, the thoughts and efforts put in and the occasion itself, were touching enough to make tears well in my eyes. Call me emotional but this is the first time I’ve had someone express his love for me verbally. The sincerity and weight of those words were just so overwhelming. Was trying hard to hold the tears but they just well up and cloud my sight =)

I don’t know if it’s just me or the Asian culture to be shy at expressing feelings verbally. We don’t say ‘I love you’ to our partners or hug friends. Guess with Timmy not being born and bred here, he’s been westernised already. Used to think what’s the hype with those ‘3 words’ or ‘143’ but now when said with every meaning from the heart, it is so special. Was previously shy at saying it but getting better already, can even write poems and not ashamed to let the world know I’m in love =) Timmy-tised already =)

Anyway, we had dinner at Armada Hotel for Valentine. The ambience was nice and the menu had love-themed names. It was sweet and romantic =) Timmy’s opinion on Valentine is that it is necessary to celebrate the day, or else it would be boring for the relationship as time passed. If we hadn’t, it is also unlikely that we would be having such a dinner in our daily schedules. Which concludes to, a special occasion or something different now and then will spark up the relationship. He did mention before that things must be done to keep the flame burning in a relationship. Trust Timmy to have this kind of thoughts.

I agree. For me, Valentine is a day to commemorate our love. Yes, people say that you shouldn’t shower your attention, affections and gifts on just Valentine, it could/ should be done on any other day. Well, to me it’s a special day to dedicate the day to love. I mean, you can’t go out and celebrate your love every single week or month right? Jiin said that when you are in love, everyday is Valentine. Aww.. But if everyday was Valentine, it’d be boring too, have no significance, will be broke too =D and I’d be lacking from fluids and sodium due to flowing tears everyday =D Couples have this special day to remind them of their love and to appreciate it as well as have a day set aside for those who have always caught up with other priorities. It doesn’t have to be something grand or exorbitant; else it would be considered commercialised and overrated instead. Imagine paying up to RM600 per couple for just dinner? It’s the price of a whole table for 10 for a Chinese 10-course dinner yet I doubt there would be any sharks’ fin, abalone, birds’ nest, caviar or truffles for 2 there. You are just being taken advantage of. The most important is that time is spent together and the existence and company is treasured.

I’m into quality time together now. I’m contented with just sitting in the car together having a chat or even sitting in total silence, enjoying the very existence of the one you love beside you. This might be the reason why I still feel ‘unfulfilled’ despite spending the whole day together at malls. Endless walking, tired feet and not having the chance for closeness or the opportunity to chat. Timmy always said that it doesn’t matter where we end up, he just wanna spend time with me and hold my hand. Yes, I agree too and don’t really bother where we head to nowadays, where else previously I would always wanna head to some mall faraway a.k.a attracted by materialistic possessions =D Last weekend was spent watching a movie together, walking hand in hand at the pasar malam (Timmy’s first since coming back to Malaysia), lots of eating and drinking in the parked car and finally spending time at the seaside enjoying the breeze, view and each others’ company. I loved it so much. I call this Quality Together-Time (Timmy argued it’s ‘quality time together’ but to me, there is a difference in meaning. It’s still QTT anyway, not going to argue here) Just simple wants, there is no need for Mid Valley, Pyramid, The Curve, 1U, Jusco Bukit Tinggi or Jusco Bukit Raja.

Our first 'official' pic together, in this special moment and special occasion

My Valentine

This pic wasn't planned initially but comes after seeing the pic he posted that shows me seemingly giving the 3rd finger. Somehow we enjoyed giving each other 3rd fingers during the dinner =D

Love is so beautiful.

Long complaints and short thoughts

It would be better if it was the other way round right? =)

Long complaints

1. Stupid kids
Somehow both my part time jobs involve kids and I realized that I don’t tolerate dumb kids well. I dunno what prompted me to get so involved with kids; it’s not that I am motherly or love kids. They are probably easier to bullshit, yeah that’s it =D I wondered if it was my problem that I have zero-tolerance but Timmy said that he has no patience as well. Guess the only ‘baby’ thing that we enjoy is making them =D Hey just joking ok… hahahahaha. But anyway, my kids will be bright, cos inherited their mother’s intelligence. So there will be no tempers lost by school teachers, tuition teachers, tkd instructors and piano teachers. I think Timmy wants his kids to attend guitar classes as well so that they could wear his hats, crank up a Canon D whenever he fancies and be the next Santana =D

a. At tuition
Back to the topic, there’s Empty whom I have mentioned before. He can’t even copy instructions off the board, which makes me really suspect that he is dyslexic or something. Once I observed him and saw him running back and forth non-stop in the class. The distance is about 3 steps and seeing that really made me bengang, thought I was going cuckoo. I could ask him a question (already in Mandarin) 3x and there would no response from him. He couldn’t draw a 2-column table and his sentences were everywhere in this row and that column. I just stared at his book, not knowing how to correct it or which word belonged to which sentence. I think he is dyslexic, hyperactive and ADHD all rolled into one. Actually he doesn’t understand English, thus no response from him. But I was too irritated that he can’t even comprehend simple English nor read simple words. You could call him a ‘stupid cow’ and he’d have no idea as well. I was so annoyed with him last Sunday for various reasons, that I asked him ‘Ni you ping ah?, to which he replied ‘Mei you’ =D Yeah, it was rude yet funny and he deserved it. It is funny when I scold someone in Mandarin, full of anger with words rushing to be spewed out but start stuttering and pronunciation goes off-key instead =P

Last Sunday too, the whole class had finished and passed up their book, I had marked them and returned it, they had packed their things, cleared the chairs and switched off the air-cond, I had packed my things as well but Empty was still copying the questions off the board! It wasn’t as if he had spent time answering them. I told him to just pass it up next week (which I know I’d forget anyway) cos he’ll never finish it by the time I get home. And he’ll never get the answer anyway, cos everyone had gone home and there’s be no one to copy. Irritated, I said ‘You do things very slow wan hor?’ and he replied “In school also I’m like that”. “Good lo”, I said and he replied “In school also I’m always the last one”. Don’t get the sting and can agree with me instead!

I give up. How not to, if he doesn’t understand a word I say? And he’s not interested anyway. Sometimes I feel pity for him as once on my way down, his mum came to pick him and asked him how was the class and if the teacher say his writing is poor. He is still someone’s son, he is loved and they sent him here to learn. Hai.. but I just can’t give him my full attention (he needs 110%) and bore the others.

b. At tkd
Last week, I had another problematic slow kid. It absolutely irritates me when they answer ‘ar’ to anything I ask, in which case I sometimes try to add another question at the end like “Are you stupid?” and they’d reply ‘ar’ as well =D So there was this stupid kid that can’t even hold his arms up for a punch, I just lifted them up and they fall back down again like he’s dead. Edwin happily passes these kinda people to me. There was gook at his nostrils and added more to the irritants. What was so difficult with ‘right leg, left leg, right leg, left leg?’ He only moves his left leg over and over again, to which I scolded “You ada berapa kaki? Satu saja ke?” Then I figured out that he was kinda young, either in kindergarten or standard 1, so I had some sympathy:

“You darjah satu ke?”
“Ar”
“Ke tadika?”
“Ar”

Then I got the idea already.
“Darjah satu ke?”
“Ar”
“Darjah tiga ke?”
“Ar”

And by this time, I am really tempted to add:
“Engkau ni bodoh ke??”

But being only the guy’s first day, I decided to forgo it. It was so tempting and so hard controlling my mouth! But the first day is no excuse for not hardening his limbs and clenching his fists. Stupid.

But that day, I was soften by 2 kids who came to salam with me after class, complete with the kiss. Never had that before, not even when teaching in Rantau Panjang where the population was 100% Malays and still considered a kampung area. But not asking for anymore salam though, cos I feel I don’t deserve it for being such a ‘nice’ teacher and might make me feel guilty if I wanna scold them in future =D

Then there are some stupid kids as well who can’t understand the concept of walking which is to walk with 2 legs instead of 1. The next step is to move forward and punch, and they move forward with the same leg that was in front. @#!?# I told them it’s like walking, just lift up the bloody leg that was at the back and take a step forward, how could you move forward with the left leg over and over again, it’s like sliding forward not walking!!

Once during the last time I taught tkd, I was yelling at the kids and I realized that this was really bad for me. Really bad for my blood pressure, really. This was when I decided that I am not gonna lose my cool and just relax, don’t wanna get so worked up already. This is also why my mum always fall ill and have sore throats while teaching in kindergartens.

Moral of the story: No, I’m not gonna preach on ways to have a brilliant kid (don’t even have to be brilliant actually, just average should be good enough to maintain your teachers’ sanity). The moral is to either not be a teacher or to marry a rich man so that you don’t have to work anymore haha! Timmy joked why am I with him, he’s not rich also. Cheh, hurt my feelings. haha.

2. Road tales
Got stuck in a very bad jam on the way to work last Tuesday. Knew something was not right as the jam usually doesn’t start there. People turned into the inner petrol station roads to save some time and even that was clogged. Luckily I wasn’t having breakfast with Timmy that morn, he wanted to but I asked him to sleep in. Turned out that there was an accident. But what was annoying was the cars weren’t even obstructing traffic, both were in the emergency lanes. It is so irritating that people slow down to watch and cause this terrible jam. Once, the accident was on the opposite lane somewhere near Bulatan Lima but the jam stretched all the way to the Federal highway near Jusco Bukit Raja. That’s really horrible, don’t you think? Imagine the distance and the traffic was standstill, not even inching a bit. (I was on the accident-lane which cleared after the accident of course, lucky me)

Which was why the councils or someone decided to put up boards preventing view of the oncoming lane at the Penang bridge. Their reasoning: to prevent kaypos from seeing any accident in the opposite lane and slowing down. How ‘brilliant’! But yeah, it could be brilliant. See how busybody Malaysians are to inspire such an idea?

So when someone proposed that there should be a law requiring accident vehicles that are obstructing traffic to be removed from the scene if possible, I am all up for it. Even those that are in the emergency lanes can cause havoc. And I’ve noticed that people have this tendency to stop to discuss things as soon as the accident occurs. Mind you that their cars were in the middle lane of the highway and weren’t even damaged badly, the 2 cars were just bumper-to-bumper! Not even a dent was visible. Just an attempt to make a mountain out of a molehill and make the guilty one feel that it was something really serious.

*****
Ever since Timmy absolutely refused to give way to a lady in a Benz who wanted to cut into our lane, I have refused to give way to people as well. Especially those fools who have no patience to queue and wanna cut into my way which I got from queuing in the jam patiently. That incident was kinda unexpected, seeing Timmy so stubborn and really pushed her out til she honked at us instead=D But I understand that as the jam was horrendous at DU, we had been stuck there for a long time and furthermore were in a hurry.

Giving these people the benefit of a doubt, they could be genuinely on the wrong lane and realized it a little too late. But seeing them change back to the emergency lane as soon as they have the opportunity to do so immediately quashes such thoughts.

*****
I have this habit of saying ‘shoop!’ to myself whenever I managed to squeeze into whatever gap there is in between cars. This ‘shoop!’ is like to celebrate my victory in managing to squeeze in =D Cos with my determination to not give way, managing to squeeze in is like an achievement, like ‘I managed to squeeze in before you could react!!” Being the hypocrite I am, I squeeze into lanes too despite all the critisms above =D But to justify myself:

1. I squeeze in whenever there is a gap in flowing traffic, unlike those above who wanna force their way in a jam. Queue when there is a jam!
2. When I come down from Hilton, it is already jammed, so it’s not that I refused to queue.
3. At the U-turn heading back to Klang town under the bridge, I only shoot to the front when there is a date with Timmy on Sundays after class. Actually I didn’t cut into anyone’s lane.
4. There are 2 lanes for that U-turn and those fools like to queue in only 1 lane. So off I go to the front in the second lane and didn’t offend anyone in the process =)

*****
When you see stupid things done on the road, take a look at the driver and most probably it’s a lady. This car swerved from the far right to park without realizing there was a car right beside her. Got honked to the max and I wanna stare at the driver too. Though I wasn’t involved here but I felt that the driver deserved a stare for being so stupid =D And as I expected, a woman. Another fella driving at 40km/h on the highway, a woman too. A fool driving in the middle of the only 2 lanes to Bukit Tinggi: a woman too. Hey women, you are an embarrassment to our gender la! Especially when you cling on to the steering with your face 2 inches from it. Total embarrassment, can’t you lean back? Why do you need to check on your wipers all the time?? Not asking you to lean all the way back like those boom boom ah bengs but just don’t hold the steering as if you are clinging to it for dear life. Most stupid things are done by women, most of the time it’s those makciks. I think I am qualified to criticize here though my max speed is 80km/h =D Old car ma, and save fuel =P Ok, so those 40km/h people were also saving fuel while kissing their steering! Shikin said I am more ganas than her and Crystal said that I am ‘hiong’, so I think I am a qualified women driver criticizer. Wake up la, you steering clingers (and others) are embarrassing the other females. Am so anti-steering clingers, so uncool.

No more road tales, good riddance.

3. Horrible job applicants
Timmy received these resumes. One addressed him as ‘Hello Dear, I am applying bla bla bla..’ Timmy said “Hello dear? What the heck!”

Another thought he was sending a job application by sms. The whole resume had ‘i m’. Really cekik darah. Not even a capital I and ‘am’. If you were to type it out, wouldn’t it change to a capital I automatically? And the worse part is he still hasn’t heard of this word called ‘my’. He was saying ‘this is i project’ (or something along that idea). Imagine getting ‘i m good looking and this is i project to show you that i m also clever’. Dunno what is his work quality if his English is so bad. Come on, graduated but yet to hear of ‘my’ in your at least 20 years of life? He was from KTAR, that probably says it all.

And now I understand the process and headaches the interviewers go thru, selecting, short-listing and rejecting candidates. It can get annoying too when you have allocated time to interview the candidate but they inform you (sometimes even at the last minute) that they can’t make it.

4. Prize-giving and elections
Took leave yesterday to send my bro to and attend the Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Negeri Selangor Peringkat Daerah Klang 2008. What a long name. Ch’ng Toh Eng, the Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Tetap Multimedia, Alam Sekitar dan Pembangunan Kampung-kampung was there to grace the ceremony. He’s the one rumoured to contest the Klang seat and I’m not voting for him cos he couldn’t keep to the time. Despite the long title, he’s not important at all, whatever the multimedia and kampung heck that he does. And we all had to stand when he arrived. Hey, I might do that if he was Samy Vellu but even Samy Vellu has no excuse to be late.

I never had these ceremonies last time. At first I thought it’s to honour only the best PMR students but everyone with straight As get to go. I was kinda impressed that the state government organized this to reward the students. Then, they announced that each student would be receiving RM200 cash each. Wow! I still consider 200 bucks a large sum of money, what about a Form 4 student? Then I started to wonder if this was an annual event or a special thing to coincide with the elections? Cos Khir Toyo(l)’s face was plastered everywhere and he was mentioned and thanked over and over again, sounds like a hint to me. The VIP said that this has been held for years but a teacher told the kids that they were very fortunate cos this is the first and last year this would be held. Now that confirms my suspicions..

I don’t like Khir Toyo and his botox face, that Ch’ng cos he doesn’t keep to the time and Zakaria for his stupid mansion. It’s gigantic and looks really awkward in the kampung. Oh, so that’s what Ch’ng is involved in-pembangunan kampung. Dibangunkan until became an istana. Felt like throwing something at Zakaria but he chickened out and didn’t show up. But Tan Yee Kew is good cos when we went to the Parliament, she foot our (ACSians) meals =)

Yes, this is the season when everything gets done, true as what they said. Suddenly the little ‘longkang’ at Andalas get filled, the same thing with the hole at the U-turn under the bridge, the holes at Lorong Batu Nilam 1B, the one at the slope down to Bukit Tinggi and even the one up the narrow MPK slope. These have been there for ages. Someone said in The Star that it’s good if we had elections every month or so!

Short thoughts

1. Voting at the elections
Timmy is going all the way back to JB to vote. He’s not that enthusiastic actually, it’s his mum that wants to go. Now that makes me feel ashamed that I did consider not going to vote to avoid the jam, queues and lack of parking. But this is a once-in-5-years opportunity and after so ‘difficultly’ getting old enough to vote, not doing is quite a waste. Think I will take some pics (if allowed to) to mark my first vote!

2. JOY!!!
Managed to get NMedia as my client! Boss had this plan to separate the accounts (previously mentioned before in "Plans made for me"), as in MS will have her own set of clients to visit and I’ll have my own. In the office, it will still be the same as we have to answer all queries but this year onwards, she wanna emphasize on site visits. So why was I fighting for NMedia? Cos.. their office is right beside Timmy’s!! Ngekngekngek.. So finally there is an advantage of a client’s office being right beside Timmy’s. Boss said that MS has the priority to have the clients that she has visited before and NMedia was one of them. But I told myself that I will snatch them back from her no matter what! And I got it!! (Actually she will happily let go of any work. Who wouldn’t?)

Have a feeling that NMedia will be very impressed with the attention and concern they’d be getting from their new contact person. I think my visits there will be so frequent that they’d sing praises of me to my boss. Eh no no no, that’s not a good idea, she’ll smell the rat. I am rat what, which makes me smellier and sneakier =D Anyway, I think I’ll be there for at most 10 minutes per session only =D Already thinking of what to do if boss wanna follow me there. When we leave, I’d pretend to go to the carpark but melesap back into the building =D I know my way well enough already, I think =D Happy.

This is how it should be, companies should find clients that have offices next to their staffs’ partners. Then only will the staff be motivated to work, especially go on visits. The staff is happy cos they get love, the clients are happy cos they seek attention (which they have paid for) too and the company even pays for my pakthor sessions by paying for parking and fuel =D Life is sweet! Will try to sneak in dinner as well cos was ‘socializing with the client’. And hey, there is even a karaoke, spa and swimming pool at the club there! Ooh la la!

3. Weird men and their high requirements
Why do yucky men think so highly of themselves? Read: There are 2 points here. First, they think highly of themselves, which is already an offense. Next, they are yucky, so they should even be thankful if a girl wanna go out with them! 2 examples here: Ronald. Short, round, looks late 30s and we finally found out he was actually only 25 and we all got a shock; carries a schoolbag with a bottle of water at the side pocket even when he goes for lunch and is generally weird both physically and mentally. When people talk about a scene from a movie, he asked why is the apple on the table not eaten?? Even his name is weird =D He left the company cos he had no friends. Debi, his sole friend, also complained something about him.

And with all that weirdness, he has a high definition of beauty and wants only beautiful girls to be his gf. Why, cos his mum is beautiful too. So? Did it ever occur to him that even ugly girls might not want to be his gf? I think he should count his blessings already if an ugly girl wants to go out with him, instead of asking for this and that. And to dictate looks as one of the requirements is pretty shallow, IMO. But ..but..I just found out that he knows tkd! And teaches too! More senior than me some more. But it’s GTF tkd. See? Weird! Debi asked if I said GTF is weird just because Ronald is in it. No! I think anyone from WTF will agree that GTF is weird. Then MS has a friend from the same school and she said Ronald is weird too. Hai..no cure la for this person =D

Another one is James. Happily saying this is ugly, that is fat and he likes girls who wear skirts. Well, we like men who are well, men!!

Think these are all some sort of excuse for not being able to find a partner. When questioned why, they can always say ‘Oh, I have very high taste that not a single woman here fits the bill’. So the problem lies on the lousy women instead of themselves.

As Ah Kun always say to his friends, “Pee a pool of urine and look at yourself in it first” and for severe cases of tak sedar diri, there is
“Poop a lump of shit and see your reflection in it.”
“How to see?”
“You are the shit la!”

That’s all folks, this and Valentine should be enough to keep you satisfied for weeks =D

Quirky quotes and char kuey tiao

Honeymoon package promotion. Maximum 2 persons.

How many people are expected to go on a honeymoon anyway?? Found that on some website.

”If there are more than 2 persons, it is called an orgy...”
Debi said =D

And then we started arguing whether there is a difference between an orgy and a threesome. How could I ever talk about these with a male colleague, I wonder!
*****
What a wonderful world out there.. how will I fare?
BM translation: Berapa tambangnya?

Lyrics from one of the songs in Perhaps Love, caught during CNY. My all-time favourite Chinese show.

*****
Ta pau-ed char kuey tiao for the first time yesterday for lunch cos Shikin got harassed by the bitch downsouth til she had no time to go for lunch (I already got harassed first thing in the morning upon my CNY hoi kung!), the rest of the Chinese community is still away and I didn’t notice James going out for lunch. While standing there waiting for my kuey tiao to be ready, I realized that there is a lot more to just frying kuey tiao.

“Small kuey tiao without chili, one ta pau, one eat there”
“Kuey tiao mee with chili”
“Kuey tiao with extra chili extra egg”
“Big kuey tiao mee with chili”
“Kuey tiao with only egg”

That is only in the at most 10 minutes I was there. I didn’t know prior to this that people do order extra egg or only egg. So weird! And I thought that ordering for Sherly and myself is complicated enough, with hers ‘extra chili and no tauge’ and mine ‘no chili’. Which is also why I don’t give ‘special instructions’ but remove all the cockles later on. Cos I don’t wanna confuse the old aunty (and also prevent myself from getting confused by the time I reach the stall =P). If given a choice, I would also tell her that I don’t want any chives. Like my mum said, I should just say I want kuey tiao kosong instead =D But I might as well have everything since they’re not gonna charge me cheaper anyway =D Actually Sherly doesn’t want prawns as well, and she’ll give me all of them. And I give Lai Wah all my cockles. Actually I don’t give them to her, she will ask for it and pinch them off my plate before I can offer!!

A 10-minute wait inspired a long post on char kuey tiao and instilled a new found respect for char kuey tiao sellers =) I could still go on more and more on char kuey tiao! And if I were to sell char kuey tiao one day, I would limit the choices to only chili and no chili. Anything other than that, you can go to another stall, I don’t wanna do your business =D

And talking bout selling char kuey tiao, I honestly and seriously once considered selling char kuey tiao. Inspired by the neighbourhood char kuey tiao man in Berkeley. I thought that it was a good, fast and easy way of seeing your money multiplying. RM2.50, RM5.00, RM 7.50.. (at that time, char kuey tiao as still priced at RM2.50 per plate) It’s now RM3.80 in PJ (due to many ‘special requests’ haha), in Klang it would be RM3.30. RM3.80, RM 7.60, RM 11.40.. =D In 10 minutes, that uncle could fry 5 plates and get RM19, in an hour RM114, in 2 hours of lunch time daily RM228, in a month of 30 days RM 6840!! That’s 3x more than what I make and he only works 2 hours a day! Omg, I really have to start selling kuey tiao!! Don’t laugh, I heard that the man selling ‘economy mee’ at 80sen per plate in Pandamaran has lots of houses that the income tax people are after him.

The moral of the story: Don’t look down upon kuey tiao sellers or any other hawker especially the famed chicken rice seller in Klang, for they have excellent memory and they probably make more than you despite all the education you have. Which was why I wanted to stop schooling once. Not to sell kuey tiao laa, but I saw that you needn’t have high education to make lots of money. The time and money spent could be used to start something up but of course, not every business venture turns out well and when it doesn’t, you’d be wishing that the time and money should have been put to better use in getting a piece of paper instead. That kuey tiao uncle is making lots of money but didn’t even spend any ‘modal’ getting an education, which now makes you super poor. So you better start frying kuey tiao to pay off your (backlogged) PTPTN loans (the same goes for me too).

And since we are still at the topic of char kuey tiao, I must tell you that it is pretty tough getting a decent plate of char kuey tiao. The one at 1 to Eat in Bukit Tinggi is good at the first mouthful but the second makes me wanna puke. Each and every time I eat that kuey tiao. The wanna-puke feeling is really bad that I really try to hold it and my jaw turns sour. Yes, it’s that bad and it’s really scary. I thought it was psychological but my mum said the same too. I dunno what is it that makes us wanna puke, mum said it’s the fish sauce. After the last encounter, I finally learnt my lesson as it was seriously nauseating and I’ve only had this same feeling when about to throw up due to food poisoning.

The RM3.80 char kuey tiao above is not bad too, but had the same nausea feeling once. What is it about char kuey tiao that makes people wanna puke? Think it’s the oil. But other than that, it’s ok, the soft egg wraps the kuey tiao like nasi pattaya. The one in Specials of Penang (was featured in NST before) is not bad too and the least oily among all. And the best is it doesn’t make you wanna puke. So that must be the correlation between puking and oil. It’s RM5.50 and it’s ‘expensive char kuey tiao’ as I told Timmy but the portion is really big and besides, it’s a cafĂ©. Colleagues say it’s not bad, huge big plate of kuey tiao and I really like the cucumber strips they add at the side. Helps the tauge in giving more crunch.

Oh-uh, I’m becoming a food critic. Char kuey tiao critic some more. But being a food critic is not bad, you get paid to eat!! But I don’t eat lots of things and eat so slowly some more, that even at this age, my grandma said seeing me eat is a torture and my ahyee asked me to chew my food the last CNY =D And come to think that when I was younger, char kuey tiao was a rare ‘treat’ for myself and I stayed away from fried chicken skin. I was more food-disciplined when I was younger, hai.. I know what Timmy will comment for this post: “Soooo yau kooi”, so save it dear! Regret teaching him some Hokkien. ‘All words will be used against you’. Cheh.

Back from CNY

Feel like a fool again coming to work on this day. Why do I always come to work when no one does? Like a weirdo. There are no Chinese around, only James whom I felt was weird for coming to work right after New Year but now I’ve joined him too. Even Mui Siew whose grandmother passed away, is off today. Even the coffee shops are still closed and the road was clear, not many people walking around in the morning too. Hai.. but the only good thing was that boss is away and I shall take leave when she is here hahaha.

So this is what transpired over the past 1 week.. backdated and was due to be uploaded last week but the delay will soon be explained later..

The (shopping) countdown to New Year

Round 7: 30 Jan

Bought at least 26kg worth of things!! That is 3 cartons of packet drinks, 1 crate of oranges and 1 packet of rice. All those are CNY essentials, even the rice which I know there is something significant about it with the sale of rice bins everywhere, but I dunno what is good about it. So that we have enough rice to eat all year round? Lugging that 26kg up 2 flights of stairs is .. bleh, no gas left in me.. all terkentut along the way already.. =D

Mission accomplished! Though packet drinks bought were on the high side and oranges had a tinge of sourness.

Round 8: 1 Feb

Went to Mid Valley with Shikin after work. Bought a pair of jeans! That’s the only bottom I have =P But no more shopping for me already, satisfied (and broke) enough to call it a day. Got a pair of love mini pillows too, one says “I love u” and the other says “I love u too”. Childish but hehehe..

Round 9: 2 Feb

Collected this in the morn:

Bro’s birthday cake. His birthday is on Monday, so we thought of having dinner and going out today. His Chinese birthday is every first day of Chinese New Year, so.. it’s still very related to CNY!

My weird bro put candles in all the holes in the aphabets =D

We went to KLCC and Jusco Bukit Raja. I didn’t know that window-shopping is capable in giving you a throbbing headache and needless to say, terrible feet-ache and backache. Took this pics..

Ok, so I admit to not going to KLCC very often =D

What are the CNY purchases this time? A pair of CNY earrings and a CNY toe ring. That’s all (I can afford there). Hahaha! And bro found a watch he liked at Jusco after visiting numerous shops and malls.

Round 10: 3 Feb

Went shopping again for the 3rd consecutive day. It’s taking a toll on my body and feet! Hahaha. Timmy shopped for CNY too and bought (sweet) oranges and groundnuts =D And my lesson learnt: Buy packet drinks at the last minute. Bought mine at RM13.88 from Tesco, only to find that all were going for Rm12+ this few days and here it was going for RM11.48!! Argh…!! Got a good bargain last year at the last minute too and I’ll remember not to panic next time.

Looked for a diecast F430 at Jusco but there were none, and there was no movie to watch as well, so we proceeded to Klang Parade with the intention to bowl. Surprisingly there was a long waiting list and the plan got aborted but we managed to find the F430 in Parkson! Though it had to be assembled, it will still do as it’s a metal diecast model. Hope B likes it. He has yet to assemble it at the time of writing, prefering to read his chem and physics books instead.

Shopping for CNY has come to an end!

On the final day of work..

I got a feeling that things weren’t going to be right that day when I realized that my swipe card was left in the other bag. Somehow I decided to bring the other bag to work and failed to transfer my swipe card to the other bag. Wasn’t going to have breakfast with Timmy that morn, no prob, I don’t have the office key anyway regardless of having the swipe card or not. Not much of a big deal anyway, I just have to borrow someone’s card every time I wanna go to toilet. I’d ask for Shikin’s, since I’m not very close to Mui Siew though we share the same cube.

Only when I got into the office an hour later did I realize that my drawer key is attached to that swipe card and I can’t open my drawer. My laptop’s inside. That’s when I started to panic. Coming to work without a laptop is as good as nothing, I might as well go home and gonna kena for it. Then MS msg to say that she was on MC. Great! The only CS in the office has her laptop brilliantly locked in the drawer. New wave of panic, it was almost 9, boss is arriving soon and Nizam, Lily and James do not have the spare key.

Then James suggested that I just use someone’s key to fiddle with it, it might open. Asked for Shikin’s, since she is the good friend. Put her key in, it fits! And it turns! And it opens! Holy cow!! Our drawers share the same key!!! Which is a real blessing and I am not bothered to wonder how could it be or worry about it. There is nothing inside my drawer anyway, but there is a lot in my laptop should she decide to switch it on and kaypo with it.

When MS asked me to call her so that she could give her instructions on how to proceed with a client’s request, that was when I was so pissed with her. She also had ‘eye problems’ the last long Christmas break, which she had already taken leave til my boss asked me to return to work. I dunno how severe the eye problems were but I see that there is a strong correlation between eye probs and long festive seasons. Very brainy eyes she has. Til Shikin asked why she is always sick, James said that her body is weak and Lily started smiling sarcastically. Come on, be a sport and apply for leave instead. It’s just so fake that you fall sick every last day of work when there’s a long holiday ahead.

Ok, I don’t care so much about fakeness but what pissed me off so much last Tuesday was that I was left to pick up her shit. I don’t like picking up people’s shit. I always believe that you are responsible for your own actions and don’t trouble people for it. I’ve already completed all pending issues (stuff that have been pending for weeks! ) that day before so that I could sau kung in peace, have a nice CNY with a hati yang tenang and spend that last day blogging and surfing the Net in total glee.

But no, somehow her eyes didn’t like me very well. Her eyes didn’t know that she had a query pending from the day before and would definitely need following up the next day. So I worked my ass off on the last day of work, furthermore not having head or tail of the story. Ok, it was partly my fault for not being fluent in FPO. I really learnt my lesson; from not having used it at all to suddenly having to churn out spot-buying plans for clients, all according to their specifications. I have no idea how to even start at all. Luckily (or unluckily) my boss knew my ineptness at it and helped me as I went along. Turns out she didn’t know some functions as well and we discovered some software problems along the way (which is now my task to report and to investigate further. Haiyah!!) God of Prosperity wanted me to be able to leave home early by making the client contented enough with just 1 plan and not requiring another 6. So lucky!! Ended up well despite sending the report 4 times in different formats and the aunty claiming that she received only 1 worksheet despite there being 5 in one Excel report. Mystery..

Somehow everyone’s very hardworking and don’t wanna sau kung yet that day. Query after query came. Surprised as usually it’s not so busy. Even James was surprised too and started grumbling why do these people not wanna sau kung? By day end, only James and I were left in the office til 6.15pm. That’s my latest ever, not including the times when I stayed a little later to play Literati with Timmy =D

Have yet to report (endless) inconsistencies in the software at time of writing, just don’t have the mood to. Hate!!

The other cubes only had angpaus but mine is the only one that had cards. Syok sendiri. Only 4 miserable cards as you can see =D

CNY celebrations

For a change, this year’s CNY was spent in Bangi. No more kampung in Pontian to go home to. Dunno if it’s a good or bad thing but I guess there is a good in everything that happens. In this case, save on fuel and toll!! Bad thing is.. that the kampung is now in a bandar! No chickens running around, no cengkerik and frogs making noises and no eerie toilets to go to!

Spent the whole time at home, bored despite having my laptop with me. But then, what can you do with an Internet-less laptop anyway, though there are a few games and blog drafting (and work zzz..) Went to Alamanda, was very chaotic going there with a convoy of aunts and grandma and lost the way back =P The next day, Tim came to rescue me. Went to Kajang for satay, then he came to pai nin with some satay for the folks back home and then we headed off again to KLCC to meet his friends Sue Kang (Sue Kang is actually 2 people =D ) And the next day.. (only for me to know) And the next day, went to Subang to fetch uncle Chai whose wife dunno the way to Bangi and went to Pyramid before picking him up. It is so nice to go to some decent mall after going to the lame Kompleks PKNS in Bangi. I miss the city life! Actually I miss the malls =D I just wanna walk somewhere where there are signs of civilization =D

The lame Kompleks PKNS that my ahyee made me go to to buy some medicine from the pharmacy. Else I wouldn't even wanna step foot in it by the looks of it from the outside. Deco still not bad though.

Ok, that’s it. That’s all the CNY story. The countdown was probably more (exciting) than the actual days itself haha.

Back to work. The weird thing today was.. Shikin forgot her key today! The very next day after I forgot mine and I told her not to worry, we share the same key and it's a good thing that I turn up for work today right?? What a strange coincidence. We are so made for each other hahahaah!!!

Ok, end of CNY, back to work and to the mundane life. No more enjoying, no more eating, no more holiday moods. Sucks. Ok, still a little more eating as there’s a lot of stuff to be finished. Excuses. Got bah kua!! Ok, after finishing the food, no more eating and time to lose weight. Enough.
