Commuters Caught on Cam

I'm starting new sections where I'm putting amusing pictures of people taking the train, of horrendous English and of amusing things received through the mail. For starters, here's what I've got this week. There are more pics taken earlier, but enjoy these first:

Suddenly, sitting in the background between 2 commuters, is Ju On

Do you see something that is not meant to be displayed in public? So heng!

A wedding, an engagement and Fong Lye

All 3 of the above are unique; the wedding is of an old couple’s, the engagement is an Indian one and I’ve never attended any before and Fong Lye is the Taiwanese restaurant in The Gardens that I’ve always wanted to eat at before. I’m not gonna start blogging about everything I eat, it’s only going to be those that I have much awaited and finnaly got to eat ones.

The Wedding

Held at the Grand Imperial in BSC, it was my granduncle’s. I’ve never met him before and I learnt that I was supposed to address him as kau kung, which I didn’t as well. Met my mum’s cousins for the 1st time and I still don’t know which is Ah Foon, Ah Pheng and whatever Ah’s (Hokkiens will start saying Ah Ter, Ah Kau). What’s interesting is that granduncle married his college sweetheart. Makes me wonder if it’s true what they say about the 1st love? Let me say that they have not been dating all this while whole ok. I mean, if you were to get married to someone in your old age, would you seek someone new or the woman that you once dated in high school? Had he not forgotten her all these while? Had they both kept each other in their thoughts all along? I guess the answer is yes and yes. Wow, it’s like those true love that withstood the test of time and now finally reunited.

Spent a lot of time camwhoring due to a sudden vanity attack.

Chuen kar fook, though I dunno half of the people in there

Camwhoring is fun

The Engagement

My coll, Vee, got engaged. I have no idea what do people wear to an Indian engagement ceremony, especially if it was held at a public hall. It’s supposed to be less swanky than a Chinese dinner at a hotel, but it’s better to be over-dressed than to be under.

First, the groom walked in and they had some ceremony on the stage. It took a looong time, and then it was the bride’s turn. And 1.5hours after the ceremony was scheduled to start, we can dig into the vegetarian spread for dinner. Spicy and caused terrible bouts of diarrhea. I’m drained..

Vee's hubby reciting his engagement vows :D

The 'selected' few colls from the office

And the next day after going to Vee’s engagement, I headed to MV for the 6th time that week. Waited a long time for seating at Fong Lye even though it was already past 2pm.

My Taiwanese chicken chop set. The U-shaped dish is cute and the 'ball' in the middle was nice but the taufu was overfried and the lin ngau was kinda spicy, yet nice and crunchy. The soup was some sort of ham choi soup, sour.

My mum's beef set. I only like the kuali.

My bro ordered the Steamed Fish with Pineapple set.

Our dessert of peanut snow. It was super duper peanutty, which is both yummy yet can be yucky especially when it's all melted. An extreme overkill of peanuts, I would say. Of course la, it was RM8+ and they should give me 8 bucks worth or peanuts .

Verdict: Food was ok but there aren't many choices for me as most of them are beef and I'm not a beef-y person. Very limited choices of drinks and desserts too. Ended up ordering a can of Coke for RM4.30, wtf. A pot of tea is RM12 and nope, you cannot refill as much as you want. Oh, you can, for RM3 per cup. Hey, don't you just have to pour hot water into the pot?

I had 2 bouts of diarrhea from the Indian vegetarian, then felt tortured cos was super full from the Taiwanese food and another bout of torture from 6 Friday's Shrimps. The next day, gastric pains started. It was a really dreadful feeling, cannot stand and can only sit. After that, I vowed never to do this to my tummy anymore cos tears welled already from being miserable curled up in bed 1 night.

So who was the culprit, the Indian, the Taiwanese or the American? Or was it just me, the sweet 'lil Chinese girl? =) =)

Timmy and Sue is 2

Work took us physically apart. Meeting every single day for breakfast has been demoted to meeting once a week. It was tough at first, but adapted to it after a while and it don't seem like anything anymore. Now, knowing that we are within reach in midweek (if we want to reach) is reassuring.

As with all other relationships, there were ups and downs. My unhappiness at Toyota strained our relationship, I think it did. Once it was out of the way, I am my happy self again =)

And then there was a short time of separation of 2 weeks each when I went to London and then he went to Copenhagen. I tell you, long-distance relationships are no fun, especially when it is a 6 or 7-hour time difference. I salute all those who are surviving LDRs =)

My favourite memories in our 2nd year together:

• Digital Mall USJ.
I dunno why was this nice, maybe it was because we did something different together and probably also cos he took a pic of me and said it’s kiuk? :D I went to pick him up at workshop, went to Digital Mall, went to Summit, went to wash car and then there was still the bonus of eating gelato at Leo’s. 4 scoops of kaw gelato: Rocher, chocolate, tiramisu and hazelnut. All dark colours =)

• Facebook Developer Garage in Cyberjaya. I dunno what was that for but I just go along cos it’s a fun date hahaha. We stopped at Bukit Rimau McD which is one of our ‘old places’ and then to Alamanda after the FB thingy. We did grocery shopping and I like to do grocery shopping with Timmy. We also had to find the ultimate glass jar to put his nuts. Nuts as in kacang.

• After-work bercinta in KLCC. Somehow I thought that we were in MV and I suggested why don't we have Italiannies, it’s just behind at Gardens. I looked at Timmy, Timmy looked at me and I felt malu and wanna push him off the balcony.

• 3 Two Square outing for some blogshop sale event. A terribly shocking and funny thing was, this Alice Wonders, who sells bags, recognised me from FB!! I was telling Lawrence in FB that one of her bags would be great for putting toilet paper. And she recognised me from that comment, gosh! My FB pic looks different and there are lots of people at that fair, so embarrassing! And to make things worse, Lawrence won a bag. No words can describe how much I wanna kill him cos he kaypo and put the link after he saw us doing so, and he got it?? Bah!! Then, Timmy and I went to Pyramid and had Korean food which Timmy rikes very much.

• A spur-of-the-moment Putrajaya trip where we walked around the place, watched big fish inside the lake, browsed through a bazaar that was going on on that day, eating jambu with lots of asam powder and shutting Timmy's mouth.

• Melaka trip, where we sang Lemon Tree along the way at 176km/h, went to the chicken rice ball shop but Timmy don't wanna eat rice that has been played with and then ate cendol sitting in the sun. We watched people taking the smelly river cruise and laughed at a group of niggas walking in Melaka town wearing suits and ties. Nice escapade but no pictures, only a vid of us singing Lemon Tree in the car =)

• Sepang HPC. Zigzagging through traffic at 178km/h, checking out high performance cars and wannabes, watching cars zoom by and laughing at slow ones. It’s also nice to bercinta when the sun is not up yet cos it’s only me and Timmy in the world, although we are only sitting down at Caltex and watching more Emilys zoom past =)

• Morib trip, one of our distance drives when we have run out of places to go. Revving Emily up and breaking the tranquillity of the village life =) This time, my slipper broke as I was walking. Since we were going to JJ, we dropped by my car to pick up another pair of slipper, only to have it break too while walking in JJ. You should see Timmy’s face when the 2nd pair broke; he was speechless for a good few seconds.

• Eating was fun too. There was the short breakfast together early in the morning in KLCC’s Cold Storage when I went to the area for an interview, the we-finally-got-to-eat Sushi Zanmai cos there is always a long queue and the much-hyped-about-but-don't-wanna-eat-anymore Popeye’s fried chicken hahaha. And the Sushi King that we always have whenever Timmy isn't working and comes to MV to seek me for lunch. And the horrible dim sum that we ate at Best Friend Restaurant and the signature line comes out: "Don't wanna eat anymore for the next 15 years".

Edit: 1 morning we had a surprise breakfast at Toast Box MV. Actually, it was meant to be a surprised breakfast but I unintentionally spoiled Timmy's plan =P He asked where have I arrived at that morning, I told him I was going to Touch n Go at KL Sentral first. Then, he said "Wei, no need to go touch and go, come to mv and have breakfast with your timmy" Hahaha, no wonder he had been asking is there a lot of people in the train, did I get a seat, where have I arrived yet.. he even said he couldn't get out of the train cos it was raining when he was already waiting there at MV! Timmy become kuat tipu nowadays; the other time was when he said he said something-something and was going somewhere-somewhere cos he didn't want me to get worried about Emily.

And on anniversary day, 26th October, Timmy sent this to the office =) Love love!

I got a call from the receptionist on the 18th floor, saying I've got a parcel and to come to the door. I went to the door but there was no one. So I took the stairs down to the 18th floor, only for the fella to come up to the 19th by lift. So, I didn't meet the guy instead and when I was walking to my place, I can see my angmor boss walking back from placing the bouquet on my desk. She said "Look what you've got" Hehehehe.. love love!

Loving my sunshine for the 2nd year..

Mad by Ne-Yo

My coll V is getting engaged this weekend and she told me that she is having some doubts. I thought it must be that usual pre-wedding jitters but she told me that he had hurt her many times. So the most recent incident was when they went to JJ to buy shorts for the guy’s father. She chose a pair but her bf insisted that the one he chose is more suitable. V said that the old man wouldn’t wear those short shorts and she has never seen him wear those. Then her bf shouted at her insisting that he is right and people looked at them. She was hurt and then she cried in the toilet.

So, the bf has been calling her but she refused to speak to him. If she doesn't answer her mobile, he then calls the office and if she ignores him too, he called the office general line until the receptionist asked if all is fine. Before that incident is settled, the bf felt insulted when V’s MSN status says “I’ll be someone’s wife in 9 days”. His argument: Am I just a ‘someone’ to you?

I think since when an effort to reconcile/apologize, the matter should be put to rest. But of course, I’m not saying that it is fine to do it again and again and then apologize. We should not have pride. We shouldn’t be calculative. We shouldn’t be arrogant. If we are guilty, we say so. Even if we aren’t, we can break the ice first. People elsewhere are having bigger problems like infidelity or joint decisions gone wrong, so what’s a small petty issue? As long as an effort is made to patch things up, we should just forget about it.

I’ve always liked this song; I think it touches me deeply. Probably it’s because I have felt the pain in being in an argument where I want to just forget about it but what was it that held me back? Arguing bleeds and I cried and amidst those tears, I sometimes did wonder “what's even worse, that we don't even remember why we're fighting”.

She's staring at me, I'm sitting wondering what she's thinking
Nobody's talking, cause' talking just turns into screaming
And now yes I'm yelling over her, she yelling over me,
all that that means is neither of us are listening,
and what's even worse, that we don't even remember why we're fighting

It's all for nothing (fighting for)
nothing, (crying for)
nothing, (oohh)

When we won't let it go for nothing, (come back for)
nothing,
it should be nothing
to a love like what we got oh baby

I know sometimes it's gonna rain,
But baby can we make up now
cause' I can't sleep through the pain (can't sleep through the pain)
girl I don't want to go to bed, mad at you
and I don't want you to go to bed, mad at me
no I don't want to go to bed mad at you
and I don't want you to go to bed, mad at me (oh noo)

Umm
and it gets me upset girl when you're constantly accusing
(asking questions like you already know)
hey we're fighting this war when both of us are losing
(this ain't the way that love is supposed to go, what happened to working it out?)
We fall into this place where you ain't backing down, and I ain't backing down,
so what the hell do we do now?

Oh baby this love ain't gone be perfect, (perfect perfect oh no)
And just how good it's gonna be
We can fuss and we can fight long as everything is alright between us before we go to sleep...

This song is good, it even eased a squabble between 2 of my students. I told them “you’re yelling over her, she’s yelling over you”, Rach started singing that song to represent herself and her squabbling sister and both laughed :D

At the end of the day, treasure and appreciate what/who you’ve got before it's gone.

It’s good to have someone to listen how your day has been.
It’s good to have someone to say every single thing that comes to mind.
It’s good to have someone to look forward to seeing at the end of time.
It’s good to have a reassuring physical presence.

HPC Sepang and Bubba Gump

Timmy arrived in Klang even before I woke up. Well, he was early and I managed to get ready in 20mins. Efficient for a girl and we are out on our way at 6.20am =)

We bercinta at Caltex while waiting for the others to arrive. The convoy of the Emilys! 2 black, 1 almost black (Nordic green) and a blue one but the blue one doesn't fit into the picture, so he's left out.

Nice nice nice.. I love the series of pics showing all angles of black Emilys. Timmy's is in the middle, flanked by Amran's Roxy on the right and Shamsul's (if spelt correctly) Nordic green on the left? See, no hint of green-ness right?

So, basically it's an event where people pay RM250 to drive on the track. There are 3 groups and each group gets 3 rounds of a few laps each.

Group 1: For track virgins and an instructor sits in the car beside them
Group 2: For the slightly experienced, no instructor required but overtaking at the corners is not allowed
Group 3: You can do whatever you like

There were RX8s (the most), an NSX, an RX7, an S2000 that made us drool, BMWs, Lancers, Integras and Type Rs.

An ulgy car that Timmy once wanted to buy but now he himself says that I wouldn't date him if he were to drive it haha. Yup, I agree. It's ulgy and it's got a disease!

And these.. :l
Of all, the Waja looks the most out of place, and there was an old Camry too, like an uncle's car.

Now it's time for my favourite pic of this collection:
*nice picture hehehe*

Timmy happy and kiuk, paling ketot sekali!

This is the only pic we have of our couple shirt. Self-snap of couple pic isn't possible cos my arms aren't long enough =) Never worn them before and don't own any other couple shirt. Amran saw that I kept trying to self-snap, so he took a pic for us =) Wanted to have another one of the back actually.

Bubba Gump

After coming back from Sepang, my bro wanted to go to Bubba Gump. It is only now that I'm going there after seeing much reviews on the food blogs.

I dunno what to order from the menu; nothing really striked my fancy and we weren't hungry as it was only 6pm+ then. In the end, me and my mum settled for the appetiser of Hush Pups and my bro got the Dumb Luck.

My Hush Pups

The menu said fish and shrimp and sweet corn, it didn't say anything about them being balls. I liked the way it was served, very cute! But urgh, the balls weren't very nice. They were something like cucur ikan + udang. Each person had 8 balls and I ta pau-ed some cos I couldn't finish them. After wrapping them in 6 layers of serviettes, oil still seeped through. Luckily I was smart enough to put it on top of my bro's plastic bag in my bag =P or else my whole handbag would be oily. Imagine all those oil inside our stomach? *shiver* And very fishy when eaten cold!

Dumb Luck

Dumb Luck, as you can see, are fried prawns with coconut in its batter. It had an interesting taste with sweetness from the coconut flakes and the saltiness from the batter. But I only had half a prawn and felt muak already. My mum had the other half of the prawn and felt the same too and my brother had a tortured look on its face. Guess that it was a good thing that there were only 7 prawns?

The sign that I see on people's blogs.

We've gotta flip the sign to Stop Forrest Stop' whenever we want the waiter to come. It's interesting but funny that the waiters have to constantly monitor the tabeles/signs and they will ask us to flip back the sign when they've come to our table.

I've seen a similar sign in Redang. It said 'Water is precious on this island. Shower with your bf/gf. Bfs available'. Good one! I can still remember the words after so long.

Forrest and his belongings outside the place, I guess.

For all those entertainment, you got to pay the price. I dunno if I would call it exhorbitant yet. The main courses were all RM30+ and Dumb Luck was RM38.90 for 7 prawns. Compare that to TGIF's Friday's Shrimp which is RM29.90 for a dozen muak-free prawns! But well, you won't know if you don't try..

Verdict:
Decor and serving concept interesting, food nothing to hooha about and expensive.

From Denmark & Sweden and welcome lunch

Just back from Round 1 with Timmy since he went to Copenhagen. He got me some stuff from his trip to Denmark and Sweden.

I got this Swarovski bling-bling from Amsterdam, I think. It's nice, kinda big and very glittery. Nice la, so bling. Maybe can wear it for wedding dinner this Saturday =)

Timmy knows I like the Pooh, so he saw this tin of biscuits and got it for me. It's a musical tin too =) I think it plays the Winnie the Pooh song, have yet to check how's the song like =)

12 mini somethings that Ulla said is nice, the middle one is hazelnut that looks nice and I know that Mjolk choklad = milk chocolate

I think the keychain makes a good pendant but Timmy said why wear the keychain as a pendant when you've got Swarovski :D I thought that it goes well with t-shirts ma. But wearing 'Denmark' around your neck is weird :D Intend to stick the magnet on the CPU at the office and see how cold the office is

Lub lub lub Timmy so much, xie xie ni!

Welcome lunch

And earlier in the day, we had a welcome lunch to welcome 2 newcomers to the team. T, my boss, had earlier asked me to think of where to go. So during lunch, I went to survey and when I came back, I saw her email asking if I have any thoughts. Kan dah pergi cari?

So, I told her that our budget allows for San Fran, CoDo vietnamese dim sum, Zen, Red Box and those Kenny Rogers thingy. Votes around the office shows that CoDo wins. Of course we would choose the most unusual and expensive thing to eat la, duh.

Btw, felt that being asked to 'organise' and make reservations was erm.. an honour =P Although it's just ciput, shows that T .. erm.. lets me do this while the most senior coll organises the training sessions. Or maybe she just knows I am so free at the office, which I am not. Whatever la..

And yeah, after I had emailed T the options, she replied and said 'Thanks, fanstastic, you're a star!" Bwahaha, I lol when thinking that by just doing that, I'm a 'star' already. These gwai los just know how to make you feel good.

Steph Ong, Elsa, Nellie, Micole, Feia, Li Lian and Steph Chan

LG, Vee, T, me, Kar Hui, new girl 1, new girl 2

My lunch of kway teow soup, chargrilled chicken and 1 out of the 2 miserable dim sum. The only thing that fascinated me was the huge dim sum basket that it came in

Elsa, Cannot La and Nellie. Cannot La is the staff who kept saying 'cannot la' when asked to take a pic for us, so T named her Cannot La

Nellie and her rice which came in a cute pot with a handle. I think the only thing good about this place are its serving 'paraphernalia'

New girl 2 and Steph Ong

New girl 1 also stays in Klang in Berkeley and after finding out that I am from Klang too, she said that it's no wonder that I looked familiar. She's from BK and a year younger than me, I don't think that in my heyday, my popularity spread that far, if there was even any popularity at all :D

And yeah, I think my boss is cute. I like her hair and I think she looks not bad too. Her hair used to be plat blond before she dyed it red and had to take EL to repair it to the current shade. I think she is funny too; she made Steph Chan reposition a crooked picture on the walls of the restaurant. I wanna cut my hair like hers but Timmy said it's like psycho. How come I always get pretty lady bosses? Oh, with the exception of the fat biatch who looks like she is 5 months pregnant and her breasts can rest on the table. The 1st was so pwetty and T is nice too. And these pwetty people certainly have characters that match their pwetty looks. And that put-them-on-the-table-breasts? Yeah, she stinks just as much as her boobs! Oh what a biatch I am, cheers!
