So this is what transpired over the past 1 week.. backdated and was due to be uploaded last week but the delay will soon be explained later..
The (shopping) countdown to New Year
Round 7: 30 Jan
Bought at least 26kg worth of things!! That is 3 cartons of packet drinks, 1 crate of oranges and 1 packet of rice. All those are CNY essentials, even the rice which I know there is something significant about it with the sale of rice bins everywhere, but I dunno what is good about it. So that we have enough rice to eat all year round? Lugging that 26kg up 2 flights of stairs is .. bleh, no gas left in me.. all terkentut along the way already.. =D
Mission accomplished! Though packet drinks bought were on the high side and oranges had a tinge of sourness.
Round 8: 1 Feb
Went to Mid Valley with Shikin after work. Bought a pair of jeans! That’s the only bottom I have =P But no more shopping for me already, satisfied (and broke) enough to call it a day. Got a pair of love mini pillows too, one says “I love u” and the other says “I love u too”. Childish but hehehe..
Round 9: 2 Feb
Collected this in the morn:
We went to KLCC and Jusco Bukit Raja. I didn’t know that window-shopping is capable in giving you a throbbing headache and needless to say, terrible feet-ache and backache. Took this pics..
What are the CNY purchases this time? A pair of CNY earrings and a CNY toe ring. That’s all (I can afford there). Hahaha! And bro found a watch he liked at Jusco after visiting numerous shops and malls.
Round 10: 3 Feb
Went shopping again for the 3rd consecutive day. It’s taking a toll on my body and feet! Hahaha. Timmy shopped for CNY too and bought (sweet) oranges and groundnuts =D And my lesson learnt: Buy packet drinks at the last minute. Bought mine at RM13.88 from Tesco, only to find that all were going for Rm12+ this few days and here it was going for RM11.48!! Argh…!! Got a good bargain last year at the last minute too and I’ll remember not to panic next time.
Looked for a diecast F430 at Jusco but there were none, and there was no movie to watch as well, so we proceeded to Klang Parade with the intention to bowl. Surprisingly there was a long waiting list and the plan got aborted but we managed to find the F430 in Parkson! Though it had to be assembled, it will still do as it’s a metal diecast model. Hope B likes it. He has yet to assemble it at the time of writing, prefering to read his chem and physics books instead.
Shopping for CNY has come to an end!
On the final day of work..
I got a feeling that things weren’t going to be right that day when I realized that my swipe card was left in the other bag. Somehow I decided to bring the other bag to work and failed to transfer my swipe card to the other bag. Wasn’t going to have breakfast with Timmy that morn, no prob, I don’t have the office key anyway regardless of having the swipe card or not. Not much of a big deal anyway, I just have to borrow someone’s card every time I wanna go to toilet. I’d ask for Shikin’s, since I’m not very close to Mui Siew though we share the same cube.
Only when I got into the office an hour later did I realize that my drawer key is attached to that swipe card and I can’t open my drawer. My laptop’s inside. That’s when I started to panic. Coming to work without a laptop is as good as nothing, I might as well go home and gonna kena for it. Then MS msg to say that she was on MC. Great! The only CS in the office has her laptop brilliantly locked in the drawer. New wave of panic, it was almost 9, boss is arriving soon and Nizam, Lily and James do not have the spare key.
Then James suggested that I just use someone’s key to fiddle with it, it might open. Asked for Shikin’s, since she is the good friend. Put her key in, it fits! And it turns! And it opens! Holy cow!! Our drawers share the same key!!! Which is a real blessing and I am not bothered to wonder how could it be or worry about it. There is nothing inside my drawer anyway, but there is a lot in my laptop should she decide to switch it on and kaypo with it.
When MS asked me to call her so that she could give her instructions on how to proceed with a client’s request, that was when I was so pissed with her. She also had ‘eye problems’ the last long Christmas break, which she had already taken leave til my boss asked me to return to work. I dunno how severe the eye problems were but I see that there is a strong correlation between eye probs and long festive seasons. Very brainy eyes she has. Til Shikin asked why she is always sick, James said that her body is weak and Lily started smiling sarcastically. Come on, be a sport and apply for leave instead. It’s just so fake that you fall sick every last day of work when there’s a long holiday ahead.
Ok, I don’t care so much about fakeness but what pissed me off so much last Tuesday was that I was left to pick up her shit. I don’t like picking up people’s shit. I always believe that you are responsible for your own actions and don’t trouble people for it. I’ve already completed all pending issues (stuff that have been pending for weeks! ) that day before so that I could sau kung in peace, have a nice CNY with a hati yang tenang and spend that last day blogging and surfing the Net in total glee.
But no, somehow her eyes didn’t like me very well. Her eyes didn’t know that she had a query pending from the day before and would definitely need following up the next day. So I worked my ass off on the last day of work, furthermore not having head or tail of the story. Ok, it was partly my fault for not being fluent in FPO. I really learnt my lesson; from not having used it at all to suddenly having to churn out spot-buying plans for clients, all according to their specifications. I have no idea how to even start at all. Luckily (or unluckily) my boss knew my ineptness at it and helped me as I went along. Turns out she didn’t know some functions as well and we discovered some software problems along the way (which is now my task to report and to investigate further. Haiyah!!) God of Prosperity wanted me to be able to leave home early by making the client contented enough with just 1 plan and not requiring another 6. So lucky!! Ended up well despite sending the report 4 times in different formats and the aunty claiming that she received only 1 worksheet despite there being 5 in one Excel report. Mystery..
Somehow everyone’s very hardworking and don’t wanna sau kung yet that day. Query after query came. Surprised as usually it’s not so busy. Even James was surprised too and started grumbling why do these people not wanna sau kung? By day end, only James and I were left in the office til 6.15pm. That’s my latest ever, not including the times when I stayed a little later to play Literati with Timmy =D
Have yet to report (endless) inconsistencies in the software at time of writing, just don’t have the mood to. Hate!!
The other cubes only had angpaus but mine is the only one that had cards. Syok sendiri. Only 4 miserable cards as you can see =D
CNY celebrations
For a change, this year’s CNY was spent in Bangi. No more kampung in Pontian to go home to. Dunno if it’s a good or bad thing but I guess there is a good in everything that happens. In this case, save on fuel and toll!! Bad thing is.. that the kampung is now in a bandar! No chickens running around, no cengkerik and frogs making noises and no eerie toilets to go to!
Spent the whole time at home, bored despite having my laptop with me. But then, what can you do with an Internet-less laptop anyway, though there are a few games and blog drafting (and work zzz..) Went to Alamanda, was very chaotic going there with a convoy of aunts and grandma and lost the way back =P The next day, Tim came to rescue me. Went to Kajang for satay, then he came to pai nin with some satay for the folks back home and then we headed off again to KLCC to meet his friends Sue Kang (Sue Kang is actually 2 people =D ) And the next day.. (only for me to know) And the next day, went to Subang to fetch uncle Chai whose wife dunno the way to Bangi and went to Pyramid before picking him up. It is so nice to go to some decent mall after going to the lame Kompleks PKNS in Bangi. I miss the city life! Actually I miss the malls =D I just wanna walk somewhere where there are signs of civilization =D
The lame Kompleks PKNS that my ahyee made me go to to buy some medicine from the pharmacy. Else I wouldn't even wanna step foot in it by the looks of it from the outside. Deco still not bad though.
Ok, that’s it. That’s all the CNY story. The countdown was probably more (exciting) than the actual days itself haha.
Back to work. The weird thing today was.. Shikin forgot her key today! The very next day after I forgot mine and I told her not to worry, we share the same key and it's a good thing that I turn up for work today right?? What a strange coincidence. We are so made for each other hahahaah!!!
Ok, end of CNY, back to work and to the mundane life. No more enjoying, no more eating, no more holiday moods. Sucks. Ok, still a little more eating as there’s a lot of stuff to be finished. Excuses. Got bah kua!! Ok, after finishing the food, no more eating and time to lose weight. Enough.
